6 Things To Look For Before Joining Any MLM Company

The growth of the Internet and people looking to earn some extra money from home, paved the way for MLM companies to double over the last decade. With this growth in interest in network marketing, many new companies have sprung up to join the ranks of the time-tested, older MLM companies.

If you are thinking of starting a side career in MLM, or just want to see how your current company measures up, take note of the critical things to look for when choosing an MLM company.

The first thing to look for is stability. It would be best if an MLM company has been in business for 2 to 5 years. There is really something about companies that have already "stood the test of time".

The longer the MLM company has been around, the more chance of it staying around. There are enough things to worry about in network marketing, such as sponsoring and advertising, without having to wonder if your company will be around next year.

Even if you were able to build the biggest downline and become the highest earner in the MLM company, it would not matter if they suddenly shut down. There are never any guarantees, but a company with a longer track record generally has more chances of longevity.

The second thing to look for is the one in charge of the company. Who is the president, and who are the directors? What is their track record? Have they spent time in the network marketing industry, or are they new to it all? What businesses have they been involved with in the past?

If you do not know the answer to these questions, call or email the company to find out. It is critical to know the answers to these questions from the outset. If you plan to spend many years with the MLM company, you would want to be dealing with people who are honest, savvy, and have integrity in and outside of the business world.

Third, is the product being marketed. Generally speaking, the more products the better. The fewer products you have, the more chance your prospects or potential customers might not be interested.

There was one MLM telecommunications company that recently went bankrupt. They basically only had a few products in the industry. Perhaps if they had added some nutritional products, they could have survived.

In addition to this, the products should be competitively priced, and somewhat unique.

Fourth, know if it is easy to start in that MLM company. Can people join online, or do they have to fill out paper forms?

Having the option to join online makes the whole process a lot easier. On the same note, having the option to join free will open up your opportunity to many more people.

Your MLM company should let people join free and allow them to market the products to earn income. Once someone has joined free, they have partially committed to the business. This makes it easier for you and your company to follow up with them, via mail or email.

Lastly, the more automated the MLM company is, the better. They should give you a personal company website that you can refer prospects to. A prospect should be able to contact you from that page.

And the MLM company should have a series of emails that follow up with your prospects.

The Importance of the Business Mentor

Would you jump into the deep end of the pool without first having an experienced swimmer teach you the basics of survival in water? This underlines the difference in the relationship between the casual business advisor and the bona fide business mentors who will make it part of their business to see another business person succeed from the ground up. Are There Any Self Employment Taxes?

Pull the Reader in

Explain the Product’s Significance
Tell the Reader to Make a Purchase

Pull the Reader in
To convince your audience that your text is worth reading, make your first sentence or two very interesting. Make a bold statement, say something seemingly ridiculous, or appeal to your prospect’s emotional side. Then, tie this grabber in with the rest of your copy.

Introduce the Product
What is the product you’re advertising? What does it do? Directly after your grabber, give a compact explanation of your product. Keep this explanation short, while still being very clear. This should still be a very short section of your text.

Explain the Product’s Significance
What will it do for me?

By writing your own copy, you can directly target your unique audience. Make the most of this opportunity! Clearly explain how your readers will benefit from this product.

No one knows your audience like you do. Suggest a variety of product uses just for them, and give examples. This is the time for details - make this section long and rich.

Tell the Reader to Make a Purchase
You’ve come so far - you’ve laid out exactly what the product is and how it will help your unique audience. Now, seal the deal - tell your readers to purchase the product! Include your affiliate link in this section.

This step may sound strange, but it’s necessary. Often, people hear about a product and are genuinely interested, but fail to actually make a purchase. A clear call to a simple action cuts down on buyer ambivalence. Don’t be pushy - just change your verb tenses to the imperative. Instead of:

“If you think that you fit this profile, you might want to think about buying this product.”

Say: “Click here to order an account today.”

Drive Sales - Use Long Copy

How do you persuade someone to do what you want them to do?

Most of us grew up in a culture which says we can believe
and "trust" what appears in the standard "news" or
"information" format. In other words, if it appears in
print, then we can believe and trust the author.

So go ahead! Use this lifetime of conditioning to your
advantage in selling your products and services!

Very few things will create an atmosphere of trust and
confidence in people as reading one of your articles on a
subject that greatly interests them. It shows you know your
business. It also demonstrates you will do more than just
try to sell them something.

Publishing articles literally lets you fly under their
advertising "radar defenses."

So remember these points when deciding whether or not to use
articles to promote your business:

1. Few things create as much trust and confidence in the
minds of potential customers as reading an article you wrote
on a subject which specifically and intensely interests

2. Articles establish credibility quickly because, right or
wrong, we've all been trained to trust the "news."

Chris Stigson speaking. I'm an internet marketing blogger who spends a lot of time testing new stuff in the bloggin era. I've kind of cracked the code for running a profitable blog and want to do a test as well as share some knowledge with this article. Benefit by reading more.

It's a common thing to hear about success stories on profitable blogs these days.. Some generate amounts of up to $100,000/month and beyond. Profitable they are. You as a blog owner probably need to do a few things differently in order to get the most out of your internet marketing techniques and take a few steps to increase search engine rankings, make more money and have it run on autopilot.

Having a well defined anchor text using a keyword is a smart way to increase search engine rankings. But search engine rankings isn't the only way to get free traffic. See, there is a lot of traffic to be gained from RSS submit, which is an RSS syndication software. You can also get a lot of traffic from socialbookmarking sites and more.

You should always "sub-niche" your internet marketing blog. Doing "traffic", or "articles", or maybe "eBay marketing" is a good way to "sub-niche" your sites. It's not at all difficult to sub-niche and it's far more profitable since you WON'T be burried hundreds of miles down in the 46th page of Google!

It's important to "niche within the internet marketing niche" if you want to dominate search engines. It's that simple to generate income, once it's set up. Don't make the mistake of targeting "make money", "make easy money" or "make money online" first time around or you'll be quite disappointed =). Instead use keyword research tools and gain massive leverage over your competition who is guessing what we search for.

Let's say we are in the sub-niche "traffic generation". After doing keyword research and finding your competition using "link:" in Yahoo for the top 10-20 results or using a research tool you'll need to record all the data and find a sub-niche-long-tail-keyword. Let's say it's "increase search engine traffic", which is a very legit word that I've researched before.

Now when you have a topic and a keyword it's time to create a domain name that has similar or an exact name of the keyword. So "" would be ideal for "increase search engine traffic". You can go as far as doing "", but I like the dashes. For search engine rankings, I personally haven't seen it matter.

Now you write relevant content about "increase search engine traffic" in your blog. Simple? Yes, but you also need about 10-20 keywords more to start writing articles just like this one. When you have done that, post them on various article directories online and see traffic, rankings and profits pouring in!

1. Position Yourself as the Expert

To effectively position yourself you must become the expert. Now, I don't just mean that you need to study your products and comp plan, but you also have to be an expert in understanding your audience. What are their needs, wants and desires? What will motivate them to get involved with your business? What solutions (for their problems) can you provide for them? Who exactly is your target audience? If you're marketing health and wellness, why would you be pitching a 22-year-old college student? Even if he/she did sign up, they'll be dropping in a few short months because they never had an attachment to the product. Look at the biggest business builders in your company. They're emotionally attached to the product. They used it and saw results. That's how it should be! Be conscious of who your ideal target market happens to be. This will provide you with a better understanding of how you can best get exposed to them.

2. Expose Your Products and Services to the Masses

Use techniques that will enable you to get exposure of your products and services to the masses! Why is it that conference lines for sales calls have really just taken off over the past year or 2? I've used them for years, and more than likely -- so has your up-line. Conference lines should be a requirement for any business owner. They're cheap (and sometimes even free). And more importantly, when used correctly, you can get yourself in front of a lot of people that truly have a want, need and desire for your MLM products and services.

3. Stop Being Afraid of the Telephone

If you're looking to grow a business to heights you can't even imagine the phone must be your friend. One of your best friends. The phone doesn't weigh too much... it can't be all that bad! I remember thinking that I was going to vomit the first several times I got on the phone with a complete stranger. I was so nervous! But, can you imagine speaking with prospects that have already displayed a want and desire for your products every single day? This is a crucial element that's required for success. When you have prospects that WANT to speak with you and have already displayed an interest in what you have, growing a business becomes child's play (and the nervousness definitely goes away!). However, you should use a script. It is easy to think that you can just talk to people and help them see the benefits of what you are offering. The truth is that without a script you are merely "winging it" and hoping that something you say will stick. The danger here is rambling on and on and before you know it, you have lost a would-be client or potential distributor. Using a script does not mean that you are not a good marketer. It actually means the exact opposite. All of the top network marketers will tell you they always use a script and that it is critical to long-term success. However, even though you use a script, you should still be personable; a good script will take you through the steps of finding out the prospect's interest level, their willingness to find out more about what you have to offer, and their level of commitment after they've listened to a presentation call.

4. Master the Internet

The Internet is an explosive tool. It's absolutely incredible, but just like any other tool you have in your garage, you must know how to properly use it. Having a website just isn't enough. You need to know what to have on it, where to put what and how to tap into the mind of your prospect. Furthermore, you must know how to get targeted visitors to the website that already want and need what you have. Once this is mastered, this tool becomes so powerful words can't depict how great it is.

5. Mastery of the Written Word

By mastering the written word and using website copy to create salivating messages, you can grow a million dollar business inside of 12 months. How would you like to enroll associates into your business without ever speaking with them? What if you could write a sales letter from top to bottom that put people into your business whether you were sleeping or golfing? The Big Three In Pay Per Click Search Engines

It's time to ratchet up your pay per click advertising and you are looking for the most effective way to use your ad budget. Maybe you've just begun PPC advertising and need help. Let's take a look at the most effective ways to optimize your search marketing ad campaigns using Google, Yahoo, MSN and others.

Google, Yahoo and MSN

Google, Yahoo and MSN provide the best results these days. They've morphed into more or less the same sort of PPC services. You can geo-target ads, you can set ads to turn on and off during peak times, you can split test ad copy, you've got complicated quality scores to optimize, etc., etc. Google still holds the lion's share of the search traffic, but each has something to offer.

AdWords From Google

Quality traffic is important and Google AdWords remains on top in delivering high-volume clicks that count. However, don't sleep on Google's success -- you still need to monitor your results with frequency. With enough the time, knowledge and the right tools, you can do this yourself, or you can outsource all that to a professional PPC management company.

One of the main problems with Google is that it is not only becoming more and more competitive, it is also getting more and more difficult to master. With "Quality Scores" playing a more important role these days and more bids coming up "Inactive for Search," it introduces more variables into the equations. If you are willing to put in the time to continually test and monitor your keywords, you can maintain a healthy Google account. If you don't, you get penalized. You'll see bid minimums raised or forced to pay higher prices, or even be purposely priced out. The good news is that with consistent effort, you can actually fine tune and tweak your ad campaigns to the point where you are actually paying lower prices, but getting higher ranks than your competitors.

With any of the PPC engines, you need to make sure you separate out your content network advertising from your search advertising and track those separately. If you don't in Google, bad keywords are probably leaking your account right now.

Are you an advertiser with a big monthly budget? If so, you can't afford to put down your guard with Google -- it can be costly. We recommend either dedicating more time, allocating more staff and hours or using a professional management company.

Yahoo Search Marketing: Still Essential

In response to what Google had done in the PPC marketplace, Yahoo Search Marketing (which used to be called Overture, and before that, re-tooled their network early in 2007 with its Panama update. While Yahoo is no longer on top of the pay per click field as they had been in the past, it's still a worthy place to invest.

Like Google, Yahoo has its own quality algorithm called "Quality Index." Once again, it's important to monitor and tweak - scores must be dialed up with continual testing. Frequent split testing will help refine your ad quality. While you won't like get slapped as hard as Google does, Yahoo has been increasing their efforts here.

With ad copy testing, you want to focus on the three C's: Customer, Competition and your Company. What makes you special from your competition? What makes you more relevant to your customers? Test different ad concepts. Then, when you find a winner, use that as a control and refine your ad with small changes to variables. The key is to consistently test to crank up that Yahoo Quality Index.

High Quality With MSN AdCenter

Even though MSN was late to the party with pay per click advertising, they shouldn't be ignored. We've noticed some high quality traffic to go along with their very useful targeting capabilities. You'll be able to utilize the same geo-targeting type of local PPC campaigns as the others. Additionally, however, is the ability to target the demographics of users. For example, if you see high conversions on your website for a specific type of visitor, MSN will allow you to raise your bids when it finds those potential clients or consumers using the MSN search network.

An important new feature from MSN allows you to import your Google AdWords accounts with much more ease. Note: Make sure your Google campaigns are as optimized and finely tuned as possible, or you will be making the same errors twice by importing them. And unless you have time to monitor them both daily, it might better to smooth out your problems in Google first. If you have large Ad Groups with huge lists of keywords, you need to condense those down into smaller, more manageable ones. Doing this will allow you to pinpoint the keywords with more relevant ads. And, again, keep testing and re-testing your targeted ads over and over.

The Rest of the Pack

We've seen mixed results with Ask and Looksmart. You can find some traffic that will pay off one week, then next week you are flooded with bad results and your Earnings Per Click go south for the winter ... and sometimes the other three seasons, as well. Miva can also be hit or miss. If you are doing a poor job managing your other PPC accounts, we definitely suggest you don't push your luck into any of these others. There is some good traffic there, but you have to double your efforts on tracking and keep a tight eye on results since things can turn sour fast. Avoid all the other pay per click engines.

You'll find that the PPC programs of Google, Yahoo, and MSN are probably more than enough work to keep you occupied -- especially if you are playing the game correctly. If you are not doing daily ad split tests, if you aren't keeping track of sales results down to the keyword level, if you are not searching for the money-making keywords that your competition is using, then you are not using the Big Three to the fullest potential. Invest your time, effort and money there before pushing on to will get a better return on your investment.

1. Confusing the reason for writing articles with the reason for promoting your business with articles.

Even though there are many reasons to use articles to promote your business, writing the articles have only one reason.

Let's begin by discussing the purpose of promoting your business through article marketing. Articles can bring a lot of visitors to your site. No matter what topic your articles cover, you will be seen as an expert on that topic. While this is great, it can't be the sole reason for writing articles. So what should your focus be in writing articles?

The only reason you should write article is to provide value to your readers. If you have any hidden agendas it will be pretty obvious. And no one likes hidden agendas. If that's the case you might as well not waste your time.

Your readers will only trust you if you give them good value. You can advise them that you have more information on your site in the resource box.

2. Not maximizing the potential of every article.

Alright you wrote an article so what do you do next. Next you should make sure you have an attractive resource box. If you writing great articles but no one is visiting your website that's not going to do much for you. Give your readers a reason to visit your site.
